The human "animal"

In this chapter there is an interesting proposition about whats the role that mankind has on life, and it is that the life of mankind is open and has "no fixed seat". by this it means we are in control of our own destiny, as we can make wonders in life like no other animal can do.

However as this role is open we can either become the wildest of the beast or the most ilumminated of the group of virtous people. We are like water. we can be relaxing and peaceful ( a calm day in a beach) or become a mounstrosity and be a destructive beast( a tsunami for example).

In my opinion we are really open persons, but theres also behaviors that no other animals do (As far as i know there are no bears that become serial killers of their own specie or fish that get jealous of one fish mating with the female fish he wanted). It seems the price we pay for being the specie that can trascend more in this life is to be equilibrated by twisted minds that compared to rats the rats are virtous (abusers, serial killers, terrorists etc).

We arent more or less than animals, we are just an animal that can trascend to eternity or go down to be dominated by his most brutal desires.

  1. Hi luis! I liked a lot this post because you're so right! a human can has the power to choose what does he/she wants to become... and animals just follow their instincts and needs but they don't really question what they get or do, and we do!
We humans have a great power but sometimes we just can see it's greatness because we're so closed minded that we just see a small part of it and the worst thing is that... many humans live this way most of their lives!!

  2. I totally agree with your opinion Luis. I think that humans are different from animals, and what really make us different is that we have free will and we choose what we want. Therefore like as you said before, you can be calm as water in a pond or crazy like a tsunami, you also choose if you want to be calm or make bad things like be a serial killer and all of that. We choose what we want and act like we want.

  4. I agree totally with you when you said that we have the control of our own destiny. I think so because if we think about it, we are the only ones in the world that can make a decision. No other animal has the ability to do this. And that is why we also have the responsability to respect other species, because they also live in the world and have the same right as us to do it freely. Although we also had bad people on our record, we also have good ones, that can prove that there is goodness in mankind.
